Summerhouse at Borgarfjörður
1999 (1st phase), 2000 (2nd phase)

The house is comprised of two volumes. The main house, a 4 by 13 meters long volume, houses an open kitchen / living / dining space, entry, wc and exterior storage. The smaller one contains sleeping areas. A small deck will connect to a sauna/hot tub to the north, and a pergola will be added to the living room deck to the west. Approach is the end of a path through a dense birch shrubbery at the northend of the main building. Living areas open up towards south and west, whilst the view is to the east.

The larger unit was erected off-site, transported to the site and hoisted in place. The smaller sleeping unit will be built in parts and components during winter and erected on site in the spring.

The construction and detailing is simple and concise. Construction consists of wood framing, corrugated steel cladding on exterior and birch plywood cladding on interior. Flooring is cork parquet and interior casework of birch plywood.
